Newborn Portraits :: Levi

I love newborns. They are arguably one of the most challenging subjects because each shot takes so much care and patience, but they're so worth it.

Family Portraits :: Tobin Turns One!

Gosh, do kids grow up fast. It's a cliche, but so true! I can already tell I'm going to be the aunt that kids get annoyed at -- the one that constantly tells them how big they are and how it wasn't too long ago when she held them as wee little babies.

Has it already been a year since I visited this sweet boy in the hospital, the day after his birth? Now he's walking, laughing and looking more like a handsome little boy.

Newborn Portraits :: Micah

Micah and his thoughtful, furrowed brows are going to solve the world's problems. At least a good chunk of it, don't you think?

The Smallest Baseball Fan

Lorenzo was just over a week old when I took these photos. Such a sweet little guy!

I love doing newborn photos in the clients' homes because it cuts down on the hassle of traveling with a newborn and everything they need is within reach. Lorenzo slept really well at the beginning of our shoot, allowing me to get these peaceful portraits of him.

I like mixing portraits with lifestyle shots, so it worked out that Lorenzo started getting hungry about an hour into the shoot. While Lorenzo cuddled with his mom, I took the opportunity to capture some in-between moments. These shots almost always end up being my favorites because they are so authentic and naturally unposed.

Since my family moved around a lot when I was a kid, lots of family photos were lost during the transitions. I wish I have more baby photos, especially ones like these to look back on.

Lorenzo's mom, Adrienne, is a huge Dodgers fan. Of course we had to work that into a few photos! :)

I love all of his expressions here. I wonder what Lorenzo was dreaming about.

Newborn Portraits :: Ramayah

Hello world, meet Ramayah. Remember this maternity shoot? She's finally here!

I love babies under two weeks old. They're still so sleepy and curly. Ramayah was just 11 days old in these photos. She pretty much fell asleep after every time she ate... making my job so easy. :)

Newborn Portraits :: Nathan

Nate and Amanda are good friends of ours. Joel has known Nate since second grade! I moved around a lot growing up, so I don't have any childhood friends. The oldest friend I have is from middle school. I always wondered what it's like to know someone for that long, and to have all of these shared memories throughout various seasons of life. A while ago I dug up a photo of Joel's and Nate's third grade class. It's so funny to look at these little faces and realize that many of them are are parents now!

Little Nathan is Nate and Amanda's third child. His chubby cheeks remind me of his big brother. They are such a great family. About every other month we go over thttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifo their house to have dinner, play card games and catch up. It's a blessing to watch their family grow and to see them parent their children with such grace and love.

Amanda is so crafty! I love the soft colors in the nursery.

That baby buggy belonged to Nathan's grandmother. I love old things with stories. Just had to work it into the shoot.

...And I leave you with this adorableness. This is why I love photographing newborns! So much smushy goodness.

Custom CD Cases

At the beginning of this year, I began to include custom CD cases with all digital file orders. I am so happy with the way they're turning out! It really adds an extra touch and makes a nice keepsake for families. The CD comes with a print release so that you can print as many copies as you'd like!

Lifestyle Baby Portraits :: Little Miss Zoë-Bug

Little Zoë was four weeks old the day I went over to take pictures. She was such a sweet little cuddle bug! You can tell that all she really wanted to do was cuddle with her mom, because every time she was put down, she would squirm and make soft noises until she was picked up again. I was fine with that because as a lifestyle photographer, my goal is to capture families in their most natural element, just being themselves.
